A former chapel located in Remich was transformed into an exceptional workplace with modern office spaces. BELVEDERE Architecture developed an interior design that respects the buildingā€™s historic identity while enabling a contemporary new use.
Where sacred space once existed, an exceptional place to work has emerged: BELVEDERE Architecture developed an interior design for the former chapel that sensitively connects past and present.
As part of the conversion, three levels of approximately 100 m² each were developed into a high-quality working environment. BELVEDERE Architecture designed the workspace concept and the interiors from the ground floor to the first floor and up to the newly reinterpreted spaces under the roof. Part of the premises is intended for owner occupation, while additional areas are available as contemporary office spaces.
At the heart of the project was the question of how to translate the building’s historic identity into a new use without losing its character. Existing elements were therefore not only preserved, but consciously integrated into the new interior architecture. Motifs from the original window grilles were reinterpreted and incorporated into a custom-made partition for the working area under the roof. Fragments of the historic glazing were also given a new presence in a specially developed installation in the circulation area.
The mission of BELVEDERE Architecture included the spatial concept, concept and detail design, the selection of materials and furniture, and the development of colour and lighting moods. The supervision of the on-site realisation and the execution as interior designer were also part of the assignment.
The result is a project that carries the historic substance of the former chapel forward while creating a contemporary, functional and atmospheric working environment. The combination of existing architecture, interior design and modern workspace design makes this place truly special.
