Urban transformation from different perspectives.
As part of the postgraduate education programme in spatial planning (FCAT) at the University of Luxembourg, two guest lectures explored urban transformation from the perspectives of developers and municipalities.
On 19 May 2026, Patrick Meyer and Manuel Lopes Costa contributed to the FCAT continuing education programme in spatial planning at the University of Luxembourg with two guest lectures on urban transformation.
Patrick Meyer, architect and urbanist leading BELVEDERE Architecture S.A., addressed urban transformation from the perspective of a developer and the experts involved in the planning process. Manuel Lopes Costa, architect and urban planner at the Municipality of Differdange, presented the municipal perspective through projects initiated and developed directly by the commune.
Bringing the two lectures together allowed participants to compare different yet closely connected roles, objectives and approaches in urban transformation. The exchange highlighted how collaboration between developers, planners and municipalities contributes to sustainable, high-quality urban environments.
